![]() ![]() It wouldnt help you with gapless playback. oh also the the Music Station app is terrible at Internet Radio! (=much cutting/pasting of URLS's. I have Synology DS214 & used MinimServer in the past, I now use Asset UPnP which is a simple one item install package. I havent used the Synology media server because I dont have a Synology. If I can convince myself that the USB hardware in the NAS is up to the job then a Benchmark DAC1 will be on the cards. 03-12-2013, 13:04 Post: 1 simoncn MinimServer author Posts: 16,191 Joined: Dec 2011 Reputation: 100 MinimServer comparison with Synology Media Server I've been asked about the main advantages of MinimServer compared with Synology Media Server. I want to be able to see recently added and recently played albums when using Kazoo. That said, AudioStation supports 24bit replay and I guess I now have to go check and see what plays! 24/96 I'm sure works but haven't tried and 24/192 files as I don't own any.Īs to the Music Station app, it's OK but not as usable as, say, Sonos, though I did junk Sonos for this system and IMHO it's worth it for the step up in SQ, even at 16/44. Ive just updated my MinimServer version to 2.1 on my Synology NAS. However, MinimServer does not see the external USB drive. I play through MinimServer which is installed on the NAS, controlled with BubbleUPNP mobile app. A 3 TB USB drive is connected to the NAS. I've noted no difference in SQ compared to when I've used the DragonFly on various laptops and have done a fair amount of comparison (this is my main system!), though I am considering a linear PSU for the NAS (=audiophilia nervosa) My concerns are also around the USB controller implementation on the NAS (hardware) & the firmware/driver that Synology use too, I think it's Class 1 Audio compliant, but not Class 2. It is connected via network to DAC Gustard R26 which has an internal streamer. If you have installed MinimStreamer succesfully, MinimStreamer will be started automatically when you start MinimServer. Minimserver (IMO) is a faff to set up (& I’m a techie geek) & although excellent for Classical music, I don’t have that much material to use it to its full potential. Synology DS214 plus USB DAC here too AudioQuest DragonFly 1.2 (using a 30cm USB extension lead to get it away from the electrical noise I 'perceive' the NAS may have, and also closer to the amplifier with a shorter 3.5mm to RCA lead) Installing MinimServer 2 on a Synology NAS Apesbrain, 2 Vignus Digital Vinylist Thread Starter Location: Italy Apesbrain said: I'd have suggested MinimServer in the past, but they've recently switched to a paid subscription model. I tried Minimserver for a while until Illustrate released an Asset for Synology.
